A railway engineering competition where teams design and build a miniature locomotive and test it against rivals at the Challenge Final (24–27 Jun 2027). Open to: teams of university students, apprentices and early-career engineers working in industry, from anywhere in the world; institutions new to the Challenge can enter an Entry Level option (locomotive design and CAD model, no physical build). Worth it for hands-on mechanical, electrical and rail engineering experience; the catch is the per-team entry fee and months of project work.
